A novel soccer headgear design to reduce concussion risk in head-to-head collisions
In a concussion research project, Minhong Kim, the founder of Concussions in Youth Soccer, utilized finite element analysis to evaluate a soccer headgear design's ability to reduce concussion risk. This project was accepted as a poster presentation to the 10th Annual Concussion Research Symposium. It also passed extended abstract screening to the Samsung Humantech Paper Award.
Predicting Post-Concussion Syndrome Outcomes With Machine Learning
In another concussion research project, Minhong Kim, the founder of Concussions in Youth Soccer, utilized machine learning models to predict outcomes for patients with persistent post-concussion syndrome. This project received a silver medal from the Korea Science & Engineering Fair International, ranking #19th. It was also published as a pre-print to arXiv (an open-access research paper repository).
In a series of research articles, Minhong Kim, the founder of Concussions in Youth Soccer, examines the issue of concussions within youth, collegiate, and professional sports. These articles are published in Concussion Alliance, a concussion education and advocacy nonprofit organization.
